Pangboche (3900 m)
The team stayed over in Pangboche as an
acclimatisation exercise. Part of this included a climb of 500 m
(vertical) behind Pangboche where spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse
and Everest were enjoyed in near perfect weather. René particularly
enjoyed the sighting of a Lammergeyer (Bearded Vulture) along the way.
There were also very good photographic opportunities which were ideal for
inclusion in his MSc on the geology of Everest. This afternoon, the
team members were blessed by a Lama at the Pangboche Monastery. The
group's morale is high and the members are all extremely excited about the
prospect of reaching Ama Dablam Base Camp tomorrow (4650 m).
