Ama Dablam Base Camp (4650 m)
A quiet day was spent at Base Camp
acclimatising, resting and recuperating from the hard climb to Advanced
Base Camp yesterday. The highlight of the day was the Puja ceremony
which lasted 2 full hours. It was moving, yet fun. The ceremony was
conducted by Lama Tashi, from Pangboche. He blessed the
climbers' ice axes and crampons, and asked the Gods to ensure a safe
passage up the mountain. The climbers are now fully prepared to start on
their journey towards the summit. René is feeling very well today after an
excellent sleep last night. Tomorrow, the group moves back up to Advanced
Base Camp (5150 m) where they will spend the night before moving up to
Camp I (5400 m) the following day. |
