Ama Dablam Base Camp (4650 m)
The team spent a busy "rest" day in Base
Camp today. They practised abseiling, clipping in to fixed lines and
did more jumaring exercises. Everyone did well and the team members
are ready to move on up the mountain tomorrow to Advanced Base Camp. René
enjoyed a refreshing shower and was very happy to have sighted a
Tibetan Snow Cock during the course of the day. During the afternoon,
the team members prepared and packed their climbing kit for transport to
Advanced Base Camp by yak. Typical camp sounds are the ever-pervasive
Nepali music, the grunting of the yaks, the voices of the Sherpas, sounds
from the kitchen, and the conversations of the climbers.
