Ama Dablam Camp I (5400 m)
After a very hard climb, the team arrived at Camp I and
pitched their tents on "lumpy" ground (in René's words). The weather today
was very good indeed with perfect views of the surrounding 6000 m
Himalayan peaks since the camp is situated far above the cloud level.
René is feeling very well indeed, with no adverse altitude symptoms at
all. He enjoyed a simple lunch of cheese and salami and has been busy
boiling snow to make fresh water for tea, coffee and cooking. Dinner
will be a pre-cooked meal heated up on a small stove carried up to Camp I. |
